The Field Observation and Experiment Station on Digital Water and Fertilizer in Langfang of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) was established in 2003, with a long-term leased land area of 25.33 hectares. It was named a field observation and experiment station of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 2009.

The experiment station is located in the International Agricultural High-tech Industrial Park, Wanzhuang Town, Langfang, Hebei province. In the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, it is in the modern agricultural planting area around Beijing and the main grain production area in the North China Plain. The experiment station has sandy fluvo-aquic soil and is part of the modern agricultural technology demonstration belt around the capital.

The experiment station mainly conducts research on water-conservation and high-efficiency agricultural technology, development of drought resisting innovative products such as new solid and liquid fertilizers, soil conditioners, and slow and controlled release fertilizers. It also develops farmland fertility improvement technology and farmland ecological environment monitoring, and studies soil testing and formula fertilization, efficient fertilization demonstration, automatic collection and transmission of crop growth and farmland environmental information. It also analyses agricultural low-altitude remote sensing.

It serves as a scientific and technological platform for scientific research as well as achievements transformation, promotion and development of water-saving agriculture, plant nutrition and fertilizer, the agricultural ecological environment, agricultural remote sensing and other disciplines.
