Innovation Team of Plant Nutrition

IARRP | Updated: 2021-07-08

Research content:

To deal with the excessive application of chemical fertilizers and low fertilizer utilization efficiency in China, the Innovation Team of Plant Nutrition of the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning of CAAS has been conducting in-depth research in three major areas: nutrient cycling mechanisms, nutrient recommendation methods, and nutrient utilization techniques.

By studying the nutrient cycling mechanisms the team focuses on the loss of nutrient and nutrient high-efficiency utilization, the molecular ecological processes of rhizosphere biological interaction, the microbiological mechanisms of nutrient conversion of organic fertilizers in livestock and poultry, and the carbon and nitrogen interaction mechanism and regulation of straw returning to the field.

The team also studies nutrient recommendation methods based on crop yield response and agronomic efficiency to optimise nutrients at farmland and regional scales and to meet chemical fertilizer application limit standards.

The research of nutrient utilization technologies focuses on organic fertilizer application and efficient straw returning-to-field technology, chemical fertilizer machinery application technology, water and fertilizer integration technology, and models of high-efficiency utilization of nutrients and reduction of chemical fertilizers for major crops, as well as related product research and development.

Research goals:

The team is committed to maintaining the globally leading position in the nutrient cycling molecular ecological research, playing a leading role in the research on the principles and methods of collaborative optimization of farmland nutrients, and making contributions to the national strategic needs in terms of efficient nutrient utilization technologies and products.

Research direction:

Nutrient cycling, nutrient recommendation, and nutrient utilization
