On June 18, at the invitation of Dr. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, Director of the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and Nobel Laureate, Wu Wenbin, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, led a delegation to Laxenburg and Austria to engage in scientific exchange and collaboration. IIASA a renowned independent international research institution with global influence and member countries including the United States, Russia, hosted the delegation. During the visit, a significant milestone was achieved as both parties signed an institutional-level Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the "CAAS—IIASA" joint postdoctoral program, facilitate exchanges between young scientists from both sides, and deepen cooperation in areas such as land degradation, climate change, and crop-soil interactions.

From June 19 to 20, Wu Wenbin and his delegation visited the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) and the International Soil Reference and Information Centre (ISRIC) in the Netherlands. The discussions focused on cooperation in global crop diversity mapping, farmland infrastructure monitoring and assessment, soil sample preservation and utilization, soil spectroscopy innovation, and the construction of cultivated land quality monitoring networks. Researchers Yu Qiangyi and Li Wenjuan from the Smart Agriculture team participated in these visits.

This visit marks a significant step forward in strengthening IARRP's collaboration with European research institutions across several key fields, aiming to drive advancements and innovations in agricultural science and technology.
