China Agricultural Green Development Report 2024 released

On July 18, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the China Agricultural Green Development Research Society held a seminar in Beijing on the theoretical framework for green and low-carbon transformation in agriculture, alongside the release of the "China Agricultural Green Development Report 2024". The event focused on the pathways for achieving green, low-carbon transformation and building a strong agricultural nation, while accelerating the promotion of green technological innovation and the application of advanced green technologies. Huang Sanwen, President of the CAAS, and Chen Bangxun, director of the Department of Development Planning at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended and delivered speeches. 

Huang Sanwen from CAAS's underscored the organization's unwavering dedication to pioneering agricultural green technologies and product development. He stressed the significance of focusing on frontier fields such as biosynthesis and artificial intelligence, coordinating major scientific and technological tasks, accelerating breakthroughs in key technologies, and promoting the transformation and application of results to enhance agricultural competitiveness and total factor productivity. The annual "China Agricultural Green Development Report," a cornerstone  publication by CAAS, has seen seven successful editions. It serves as a vital resource for various sectors to understand China's agricultural green development, supporting the implementation of green development concepts and aiding the agricultural and rural sectors in pursuing an ecologically prioritized, resource-efficient, and high-quality green low-carbon development path. 

Han Changfu, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and President of the China Rural Development Association; Yu Xinrong, former vice minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and chairman of the China Agricultural Green Development Research Society; and Zhang Fusuo, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered reports at the event.

Ye Yujiang, vice president of the CAAS, presented the "China Agricultural Green Development Report 2024." The report indicates that China's level of green development has steadily improved, with the national agricultural green development index reaching 78.23 in 2023, an increase of 0.33 from the previous year. The report also includes new content such as the national important agricultural resources ledger and the green development trends in various provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities.

More than 120 participants attended the conference, including officials from relevant departments of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, departments and affiliated units of the CAAS, experts from the China Agricultural Green Development Research Society, research institutions, and representatives from enterprises.
