He delivered a lecture entitled "Isolation and characterization of novel methane-oxidizing bacteria inhabiting paddy field ecosystem". The lecture, hosted by Prof. Xiaoxia Zhang, was attended by over 30 researchers and graduate students.

Prof. Susumu ASAKAWA focused on the diversity, isolation, culture and detection methods of methane-oxidizing bacteria, an important group that is difficult to culture in rice field ecosystems, as well as the classification and identification of new species in this group. He engaged in lively discussions and exchanges with the attendees on related issues.

After the lecture, Professor ASAKAWA Susumu visited National Collection of Agricultural Microbial Resource and had discussions with the team's graduate students, sharing research experiences and in-depth exchanges on hot topics and future development trends in the field of research.
