On March 16, 2025, Dr. László Nagy, a member of Academia Europaea and researcher at the Biological Research Centre, Szeged in Hungary, visited the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IARRP) at the invitation of the Edible Fungi Genetics, Breeding and Cultivation Team for a series of academic exchange activities.

During his visit, Dr. Nagy delivered a lecture titled “Functional genomics and evolution of mushroom-forming fungi.” The event attracted more than 30 researchers and graduate students from different institutions such as the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, and the Beijing University of Agriculture.

In his presentation, Dr. Nagy systematically reviewed his team’s latest progress in functional genomics and evolutionary studies of mushroom-forming fungi. He focused on gene regulatory networks associated with fruiting body formation and their evolutionary mechanisms, while also offering forward-looking insights into key scientific questions and future research directions in the field. The lecture was both in-depth and accessible, sparking strong interest and lively discussion among attendees.

Following the lecture, Dr. Nagy engaged in in-depth discussions and a Q&A session with faculty members and students, addressing both the topics covered in his presentation and their ongoing research projects. Besides, he also offered constructive suggestions on research ideas and methodological approaches.

His visit further strengthened academic exchange between the institute and leading international scientists, laying a solid foundation for deeper collaboration and the establishment of long-term, stable cooperation mechanisms.
