Updated: 2025-05-09

On April 28, the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP) organized a Postdoctoral Academic Salon and the election meeting for the new committee of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Sub-Association. The event was attended by Xue Pengfei, Deputy Director of the Personnel Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Ren Huazhong, a researcher from Peking University, and Tong Hongning, a researcher from the Institute of Crop Science. Wang Xiufang, Party Secretary of IARRP, also attended and delivered a speech. More than 40 postdoctoral researchers participated in the meeting.

During the academic salon, postdoctoral researchers Liu Mengjiao and Li Jing presented detailed reports on their research topics, focusing on optimized fertilization strategies for vegetables and innovative improvements in long-term surface temperature change detection methods, respectively. Researchers Tong Hongning and Ren Huazhong provided targeted feedback and guidance, sparking active discussions among the postdoctoral attendees and creating a rich academic atmosphere.

The Postdoctoral Fellowship Sub-Association elected its second council, with Dr. Xu Qiyu serving as the chairperson, Dr. Zhang Liyu as the academic committee member, Dr. Chen Qian as the cultural and sports committee member, and Dr. Yin Yanshu as the publicity committee member.

In her speech, Secretary Wang Xiufang emphasized the importance of postdoctoral researchers taking on responsibilities, seizing the current wave of agricultural technology development, and focusing on national interests and social responsibilities. She urged them to enhance their sense of mission and responsibility as members of the national team, concentrate on the institute's primary task of cultivated land technology innovation, and pursue innovation with a focus on agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. She stressed the need for strict self-discipline and maintaining high standards, encouraging the new council to act as a bridge to enhance communication and cooperation among young people within and outside the institute, improve academic capabilities, and contribute wisdom and strength to the development of agricultural science and technology.

Deputy Director Xue Pengfei highlighted the importance placed by the CAAS leadership on postdoctoral training, recognizing postdoctoral researchers as a crucial reserve force in the academy's "four horizontal and four vertical" talent system. He discussed the implementation of various supportive policies, such as the "Excellent Agriculture Plan", "Youth Voyage Plan", "Outstanding Postdoctoral Program", and "Pre-appointment Postdoctoral Program", which provide strong policy support for the growth and development of postdoctoral researchers. He commended the IARRP for its effective implementation of these measures, leading to significant progress in postdoctoral work. Xue emphasized the need for the institute to further enhance quality and efficiency, optimize working mechanisms, and increase training efforts. He encouraged the new sub-association council to build an effective academic exchange platform, organize diverse cultural and sports activities, and strengthen service and promotion efforts, motivating postdoctoral researchers to achieve new breakthroughs in the field of scientific research.
