Saline-Alkaline Soil Improvement Experiment Station in Dezhou of CAAS

IARRP | Updated: 2021-07-08

The Saline-Alkaline Soil Improvement Experiment Station in Dezhou of CAAS was established in the 1960s as one of China's earliest national field work stations in the field of agricultural research, focusing on saline-alkaline soil improvement and medium and low-yield field management. The station has a scientific research office area in Dezhou city, Shandong province, and two experiment bases in Dezhou’s Lingcheng district and Yucheng city. Over the past 50 years, the station has undergone three historical development periods: saline-alkali land improvement from 1966 to 1985, medium and low-yield farming and Huang-Huai-Hai Plain comprehensive development from 1986 to 2000, and high-yield, high-efficiency, and green production from 2000 to the present. It has made important contributions to the country’s regional food security and agricultural development.

The experiment station works on national scientific and technological research in comprehensive regional management, saline-alkali land improvement, medium and low-yield farming, high-yield and high-efficiency cultivation of grain and cotton, and development of animal husbandry in agricultural areas. It is an important experimental base for comprehensive scientific research carried out by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in China’s Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, and is also China’s only large-scale field experiment station that takes improvement of saline soil as an important research direction.
